Continuity
Description
A disaster plan exists that provides for the smooth transfer of all mission or business essential functions to an alternate site for the duration of an event with little or no loss of operational continuity. (Disaster recovery procedures include business recovery plans, system contingency plans, facility disaster recovery plans, and plan acceptance.)
Threat
Mission and business essential functions are at risk to interruption from a disaster without a disaster recovery plan properly documented and executed within 24 hours of activation.
Implementation Guidance
This guidance is provided for Information Assurance Managers to assist in setting up a disaster and recovery plan: 1. Ensure that the system disaster plan smooth transfer of all mission or business essential functions to an alternate site for the duration of an event with little or no loss of operational continuity. 2. Disaster recovery procedures shall include business recovery plans, system contingency plans, facility disaster recovery plans, and plan acceptance.
